Current & upcoming Stirchley Art Room Events & Projects:

Postal Art Club Selly Oak - a new exciting and totally free Postal Art Club - Contribute to a collaborative zine making project by post!  *NOW FULL* - But you can still join in here

A free three-month postal art project for families or households in South Birmingham.
This project is open to households in the Selly Oak locality - Stirchley, Bournville, Cotteridge, Selly Oak, Selly Park, Bournbrook, Druids Heath, Monyhull & Highter's Heath and is funded by Birmingham City Council Children & Families Covid 19 Community Grant.
You can take part as a family, as an individual or as a household group - strictly one place per household. This project is suitable for adults and children of all ages and abilities - this is a truly multi-generational project!
Each household will receive creative tasks and a selection of materials once a month along with pre-paid envelopes to post back your artwork.
Artwork produced during the project will be collated by Stirchley Art Room into separate hand bound zines - each one containing original artwork from each household. At the end of the project each household will receive an original zine to keep.
Artworks will also be exhibited on this website as the project progresses and you can follow the project on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter (@ArtStirchley).

Amazingly the 20 spaces we had funding for were all taken within the first few hours of being available - which shows how much of a need there is for this kind of project!  You can currently use the link below to add your name to a waitlist - however there is no guarantee that we will be able to obtain further funding to support another round. We'll keep you posted!

Friday Art Club is going postal!

A lot of the organisations who fund our various initiatives have been working hard to support projects like ours at the moment, including the Postcode Lottery Trust, who have said that we can re-direct the funding we received for the Friday Art Club to something more 'deliverable' in these challenging times.
Our Quarantine Art Club is now up and running in the form of a postal zine making project. We are sending out a monthly pack of materials and prompts to the people who have signed up. Participants will produce two A5 pieces of artwork, and send those back to us every fortnight. At the end of the project, postcards from all participants will be bound into a set of very special limited edition zines, which will then be given back to project participants.
Keep an eye on our blog page for images of the artworks as we receive them. We can't wait!
Although the project has already begun with an initial group of artists, we are open to setting up a second group for possibly a slightly shorter version of the project if enough people are up for it. Interested? Please email us at stirchleyartroom@gmail.com ... and we'll keep you posted...

 UPDATE: COVID-19 Coronavirus (17th April)

Following the most up to date advice from the government, and along with many other organisations, we have decided it is everyone's best interests that we postpone some of our forthcoming activities. Therefore, all Change a Book workshops and events are going to be put back until later this year (new dates will be published as soon as we know them).
The Art Club at the library is also cancelled for the time being - a postal club is taking it's place for the next few months (see above).
The Sketchbook Circle has also gone postal and participants have all been contacted about that - let us know if you have any questions...
If anything changes we'll say so here - please check our blog page and social media @ArtStirchley (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) for updates too.
There is much uncertainty at the moment for us all, but please remember to keep making art. Art is even more important in times like these.  Keep well folks & see you soon! x
