The Art of Science!
A window and garden display competition for CoCoPopUps 2021

Picture
Cocomad may not have been back in its usual form for 2021 - but hurray for CoCoPopUps: a series of smaller events for all  the community during the summer, bought to you by the fabulous Friends of Cotteridge Park... and we were thrilled to join in the fun back with another front window & garden art competition.

In 2021 the competition was all about celebrating the performing arts - so this year we turned to the vast wonders of science for our inspiration.  We were completely blown away by the creatvitiy and ingenuity of the entries!  Have a look at the gallery of photos below.

Art & Science cross over in so many interesting ways, and actually, artists and scientists work and think in very similar ways too: both experiment, make discoveries, and strive for original ideas.  Artists help to us to visualise scientific concepts and record species and specimens through illustrations; scientists help to create new materials and pigments for artists to use. We were very excited about the potential of this theme for an art competition, and absolutely thrilled with the quality and creativity of the entrants!
